Reintegration Project Worker

The remit of this post is to work with Homeless individuals with addiction issues. Its aim is to provide a safe and secure environment, and through key working, care planning, care and case management, and group work, respond appropriately to their support needs in their rehabilitation efforts in order to enable the client to maximise their potential and move out of homelessness.

A second aspect within the Reintegration Project Worker Role is Prison Links support. The aim of the Prison Links support is to develop relations with people from the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown community who are in prison and who have/had difficulties with drugs/alcohol. They are supported while leaving the prison system, in order to reintegrate successfully into the community and facilitated in accessing appropriate services.

Ideally work is carried out with clients six months before release in order to build a strong relationship but this is not always possible. The CPL works in Mountjoy, Dóchas Centre (Women’s Prison) St. Patricks, Cloverhill, Shelton Abbey and Wheatfield.

Referrals have come from a variety of sources, such as:

• Probation Service (Community and Prison)

• Family members

• Community projects

• Solicitors

• Self-referral

• Prison school teachers

• Baggot Street Clinic (Outreach workers)
